Mometasone furoate
Indications/Uses
Relief of inflammatory & pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses eg, psoriasis & atopic dermatitis. Scalp lesions.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn Apply thin film to affected area once daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Hypothalamic pituitary-adrenal axis suppression, Cushing's syndrome, hyperglycemia or glycosuria in patients w/ liver failure, infants & childn. Inference in growth  & development of childn w/ chronic use. Discontinue if irritation or sensitization develops. Uncontrolled infection. Avoid contact w/ eyes & surrounding areas. May increase the risk of serious or fatal infection in individuals exposed to viral illnesses eg, chicken pox or measles. Active or quiescent TB & ocular herpes simplex infection. May cause glaucoma or cataracts. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Burning, itching & signs of skin atrophy. Irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, maceration of the skin, secondary infection, striae & miliaria.
